Neato Botvac 80 Review after two years of service
I’ve purchased my Neato Botvac 80 exactly 2 years ago (after that time Neato Botvac D80 was released). It was my first ever experience with vacuum cleaner robots and I’ll be very clear upfront – I’m happy with my purchase till now, despite few nuances.
Usually you would expect a Neato Botvac 80 review to be shared after 1-2 weeks of use, but we decided to offer this device the ability to provide itself for 2 full years. One has to wonder, how can this device fare after such a long period of time? Let’s find that out right away.
Pros
- Maybe the best thing about the Neato Botvac 80 is that it’s very durable. Some people didn’t think like that but there’s denying that this product is designed in order to offer a great value and true solution to your problems. After 2 years of use, the device is just a little scratched but as a whole it’s intact and it doesn’t have color problems and so on.
- Even after 2 full years it still manages to offer a pretty good room scanning and cleaning. It does fail at times, but more of that on the Cons side. However, considering the use that such a device gets in 2 years, there’s no denying that the value you get from here is very good.
- Dirt and pet dander removal is just as good as it was in the beginning and you do receive a great cleanliness feeling when you use the device. That’s what manages to offer a very good value and you should definitely consider using this product from that reason alone.
- It still does a great job when it comes to protecting the furniture as well, it had only minor scratches so the sensor does wonders. Even if the device started to get a little louder in time, it still is quiet when compared to most of the robotic vacuums on the market.
- The performance it delivers is pretty much the same here especially since the Neato Botvac 80 does wonders on just about any type of surface. That manages to bring in front a very good value and outstanding results all the time.
Cons
Yes, there are a few cons that can appear after 2 years of use. This is obvious and expected because no product is perfect. However, the cons aren’t bad.
- The Neato Botvac 80 will get stuck with a pile of large carpet and at times it won’t recognize the grid surfaces.
- At times, it will have a funny behavior with mirrors since they don’t allow it to scan the entire room in a proper manner.
- Plus, the dust bin isn’t large due to design reasons so you have to remove it often.
Despite the fact that 2 years have passed since we got the Neato Botvac 80, the device still does a very good job and works as expected. It’s a product that manages to bring in front a very good value and in the end it’s a stellar purchase. If you want to keep your room or home clean and you are busy, Neato Botvac 80 comes as a good, budget friendly product that can help you remove the cleaning hassle. It’s a great purchase for sure, especially at the current price of less than $500.
Update
This post was written in summer, but published just now. At September Neato Botvac 80 battery died and I have to replace battery. I’ve ordered it from Canadian Amazon with included free delivery and received during 3 work days. Unexpected 🙂 Battery replacement went just fine and now my cleaning robot up and running again.
